I was pulled out of my thoughts when Kaira said, â€Å"Hey want to go shopping for some new outfits before you start school tomorrow? As a celebration for you waking up?† I nodded, and she handed me my phone. â€Å"They found it not long after you were found on the road, it was unharmed. Thought you might want it back.† â€Å"Thanks. Let’s go.† I found a jacket and put it in the pocket of it, before pulling it on. I lived in town, and the mall was a couple blocks from my house, so we decided to walk there. It was a cool evening, and the breeze was light. I shot my parents a text telling them our plans and that I would be back soon. We were halfway to the mall when we were passing an alley and a guy jumped out of the shadows. He pushed us down the alley†¦show more content†¦Oh! What if you can read minds? Maybe you have his powers. He couldn’t read minds though, darn, that would’ve been cool. Wait do you have Sol’s too?† She rambled on before I interrupted her. It did make sense when you thought about it. I had seen that shadow shield in front on me, and it showed up after I threw my arms over my head in panic. And I had been hit by both Shadow’s and Sol’s powers in the battle that left me in a coma. â€Å"Maybe†¦Ã¢â‚¬  I trailed off, remembering how Sol could make balls of light in his hands to light up a dark place. He would often do it when Shadow would pull the shadows around them, leaving him in darkness. I cupped my hand and imagined the bright ball of light sitting in my palm like he often did. I opened my eyes again and there in my palm was a bright ball of light. â€Å"Wow.† I closed my palm, extinguishing the light. Kaira looked at me, practically giddy. â€Å"You do! You could become a superhero! We can get a costume and a mask. The Definition of a College Super Senior

The term super senior refers to a student who attends a four-year institution (either high school or college) for more than four years. Such students are sometimes called fifth-year seniors, as well.   The name stems from the fact that high school and college students typically take four years to get their diplomas. Each year of school has its own name: Your first year is your freshman year, your second year is your sophomore year, your third year is your junior year and your fourth year is your senior year. But theres another category of student that doesnt fit those labels: People who arent done with college after their senior year.   Enter the term super senior. Perhaps because its becoming increasingly common for students to take 5 (or more) years to finish college, the term super senior is becoming increasingly common as well. Who Qualifies as a Super Senior? The connotations of super senior vary a bit and depend on an individual students situation. Calling someone who is double majoring in chemistry and biology and then planning on going to medical school a super senior merely acknowledges they are in their fifth year. In contrast, calling someone a super senior because theyve failed multiple classes  and perhaps enjoy the party scene rather than work to finish in four years is, indeed, a bit of a put down. There can be legitimate reasons why people take more than four years to finish college. Classes, particularly at bigger schools, can be difficult to get into, making it a challenge to complete your degree requirements by the end of senior year. That becomes even more  difficult if youve changed your major a few times, effectively cutting down the amount of time you have to get everything done. And from time to time, people encounter personal challenges or medical situations that delay their ability to graduate. Sometimes being a super senior is part of the plan. There are a variety of schools and programs that offer things like dual degrees, a fifth-year masters degree, or a fellowship that requires extra enrollment beyond four years. Or maybe youll come across a great semester-long internship program that requires you to take a reduced number of credits: Taking the job may mean you graduate later than planned, but youll do so with experiences and a resume that will make you more competitive in the job market. Super seniors are simply another part of a college community. Is It Bad to Be a Super Senior? Taking more than four years to graduate college isnt inherently bad — employers generally care whether or not you got the degree, not how long it took you to earn it. That being said, one of the greatest consequences of taking longer to complete college is the financial burden. Scholarships are sometimes limited to the first four years of study, and there are limits on federal student loans to undergraduates. No matter how you figure out how to pay for it, an extra year or more of tuition payments wont come cheap. On the other hand, doing a fifth-year masters program could actually help you save money. In the end, the most important thing is that you reach whatever goals brought you to college in the first place.

Neuropsychologists have extensive training in the anatomy, physiology, and pathology of the nervous system. Some neuropsychologists specialize in research while other neuropsychologists specialize in evaluating and treating people who are thought to have something wrong with the way in which their nervous system is functioning. Neuropsychologists study brain behavior relationships under very specific circumstances which are both controlled and standardized. As a general rule, this means using tests which have been validated and which have been shown to have acceptable levels of sensitivity and specificity. This means the test can measure the thing it is trying to measure even when the thing it is trying to measure is only present in small amounts and it also means the test can distinguish the thing it is trying to measure from other things. If we wish to measure a thing A then the test has to be able to measureA even when very little of A is present; this is sensitivity. Specificity means when we measure A with our test, we know that the test does not measure B, C, or D.Clinical neuropsychologists evaluate patients using one of three general methods. The first method is to use an assessment technique in which a fixed battery of tests is given and in which we only want to know what functions are impaired and what functions are not impaired. The most commonly used representative of this type of test is the Halstead Reitan Neuropsychological Battery. The second method is to use an assessment technique in which a fixed battery of tests is given but in this method there is a hierarchical each subtest so that if a function is impaired, the level at which it is impaired can be determined. The most common representative of this type of test is the Luria Nebraska. Common to both of these tests is a long history of research studies examining the ability of the two batteries to measure dysfunction of the brain and to accurately identify why that dysfunction is occurring. The third method used by neuropsychologists is the flexible battery approach. By definition, the flexible approach is not a battery because when one uses this approach one gives a group of tests allegedly picked for just the particular patient. This means that the particular group of tests is not given to other patients and it is not Neuropsychology involves the study, evaluation, and treatment of known and suspected brain disorders using the methods of psychology. How do neuropsychologists study these brain/behavior relationships? Classically, brain/behavior relationships have been inferred from the study of individuals with head injuries, tumors, neurological disease, and other unpleasant brain pathologies. Behavioral changes are assumed to be due to this brain tissue damage. For instance, if a stroke caused damage to the very back of your brain, it is known that you will more than likely experience visual difficulties eventhough your eyes are perfectly intact.
